The story
After taking Isle de France in 1810, Britain still had a long Indian Ocean to worry about. Cheap, sturdy towers with a gun on top were a system, not a one-off folly. Seeing one makes the Citadel in Port Louis feel like part of a network, not an isolated curiosity.
