Bras d'Eau is a national park on the east coast that many itineraries skip because it is not on the Chamarel loop. You get coastal woodland, ruins of older estate infrastructure, and a quieter protected-area walk. It is not a secret beach. It is a lesser-known public park. Heat, mosquitoes, and limited facilities are real. Go if you are already on the east and want something that is not a kite beach or a hotel garden.

The story

East-coast estates left ruins in coastal forest. The park packages a fragment of that landscape for walking. It is useful because it breaks the assumption that 'nature in Mauritius' equals the southwest gorges.

Early on the east, before heat. The east can be windy — pleasant in the trees, harsh in summer sun.

East coast, north of Belle Mare / toward Poste Lafayette. Car needed. Bundle with an east day.
